Alexandre Vlasov won the 2nd stage of the Tour de la Provence, Kangert 24th

Alexandre Vlasov (Astana Pro Team) did a well timed acceleration 2km from the finish and won the uphill finish of the Tour de la Provence's 2nd stage. Astana was controlling the pace of the bunch on the bottom of the finishing climb and it looked like Vlasov will have to ride for his teammate Alexey Lutsenko (finally 3rd), but they did it in a smart way. Everybody looking a bit at Lutsenko, he let his Russian teammate to attack and controlled the others. Only Wilco Keldermann (Team Sunweb) got between the two Astana riders finishing 2nd.

Tanel Kangert (EF Pro Cycling) was hanging on and lost the contact with the main contenders field in the last 500m finishing 24th.

Evaldas Šiškevičius (Nippo Delko One Provence) did a good down hill before coming to the last climb and got a gap with the main field about 10km to go. He dragged his teammate Julian El Fares (finally 14th) with him and they had about 15s lead coming to the final 4km. Evaldas (finally 102nd) slipped in a corner just before the last climb and put his hand on the ground, leaving El Fares alone fighting against the Astana lead bunch.

Jaakko Hänninen (Ag2r La Mondiale) finished 41st, Rein Taaramäe (Team Total Direct Energie) 54th, Ignatas Konovalovas (Groupama FDJ) 92nd, Krists Neilands (Israel Start Up Nation) 104th and Norman Vahtra (Israel Start Up Nation) came in a grupetto on 141st position.
