Jaakko Hänninen is the first Finnish cyclist riding a Grand Tour since 2015?
Updated: Jan 3
Jaakko Hänninen told in an interview to twd.fi that he has Vuelta 2020 in his racing program. It means that Finnish cycling will again have a cyclist racing a Grand Tour, the first since Jussi Veikkanen did so participating at the Giro & Vuelta 2015. The former U23 World road race Championship bronze (2018) will start his season in February with the Tour de la Provence (UCI 2.1 FRA). He will have also some Ardenne's classics in his program.
"We had about 40 hours of riding during our 9 day long training camp in Costa Blanca (Spain). It was a much more relaxed start than a year ago. Back then there were a lot of new people and new things to pay attention to, now I was already used to it. The camp went well for me. It is nice to come home to Ruokolahti for Christmas and after that I will return to France. In January we will have our next Spanish training camp.," explained Jaakko.
