Quintana won the last stage of the Paris-Nice, Kangert 8th of the stage and in the GC
The last stage of the Paris-Nice saw many different attacks on the last 16km long climb, the first one came by Thomas de Gendt (Lotto Soudal) in the front of the race, where he dropped his breakaway companions and continued the final climb with a minute lead ahead of the bunch with the main favourites. Finally about 4km from the finish, Nairo Quintana (Arkea Samsic) made his acceleration and passed soon De Gendt, who was finally cought by the other chasing riders too, leaving him to finish 11th of the stage. Maximillian Schachmann (Bora Hansgrohe) won the general classification ahead of Tiesj Benoot (Team Sunweb) and Sergio Higuita (EF Pro Cycling). Tanel Kangert (EF Pro Cycling) finished 8th of the stage and he was also 8th in the GC. Its his second best GC result in a World Tour multiday event. His best ever World Tour GC result is 6th in the Tour de Swiss 2013 and third best ever World Tour GC result is 9th of the Tour of Poland 2013.
Only 61 riders finished the "Race to the Sun," amongst them also Evaldas Šiškevičius (Nippo Delko Provence One), who was 49th in the GC.
