R.I.P Jaan Klassepp
Jaan Klassepp left us on Friday, January 17th at the age of 76. He was a great figure in cycling from Tartu, Estonia in the 1960s. The most successful season in his career was 1968. As the second Estonian ever, he won the Soviet Championship's road race. Earlier it had been done by Ants Väravas (1964) and later only by Riho Suun (1982).
After the career as a cyclist, he worked for many years as a cycling coach in the town of Tartu. One of his trainee's was multiple Tour de France stage winner Jaan Kirsipuu.
The funeral of Jaan Klassepp will take place on January 26 at 1 pm in St. Paul's Church in Tartu.
