The breakaway succeeds in Provence!

Updated: Feb 19

It doesn't happen often in a well controlled race that the breakaway makes it to the finish. This time the 4 escapees on the last stage of the Tour de la Provence outpowered the chasing field finishing with a 6 second advantage in front of it. The four man were pretty tired and Owen Doull (Team Ineos) had more legs for the final push when Matthias Brändle (Israel Start Up Nation), Ian Garrison (Deceuninck Quick Step) and Romain Combaud (Nippo Delko One Provence). Alexey Lutsenko (Astana Pro Team) came in 5th winning the sprint of the diminished bunch. The GC was won by Nairo Quintana (Team Arkea Samsic). Tanel Kangert (EF Pro Cycling) was finally 22nd in GC as he lost some time on the last stage. " Just didn't have the legs anymore at one point," he told us.

Jaakko Hänninen (Ag2r La Mondiale) finished 34th & Rein Taaramäe 39th in the GC. Rein was happy with his condition and told that he aims to go for a podium in the Tour of Rwanda at the end of the month.
